Frequently Asked Questions
Cycling Accident Management Services (CAMS) is the dedicated cycle division of Direct Accident Management Limited. Founded in 1996 we have helped thousands of vulnerable road users following accidents. We can put you in contact with specialist road traffic accident investigators and solicitors who are waiting to work for you.
We support cyclists who have been involved in an accident that wasn’t their fault. If you need your bike for your occupation or to commute to your place of work, we understand that being without your bike can be costly. When you choose CAMS, we can organise to have a replacement bike and helmet provided to you upfront without having to wait for your insurance company to pay-out.
We can take away the hassle and worry following an accident and get you back on the road. Plus, if you have sustained any loss, we can also put you in touch with specialist cycling solicitors who can secure compensation from the other party’s insurance company.
Your bike and helmet can be replaced through a participating bike shop of your choice within days. The rest of the claim will be dealt with by experienced, recommended solicitors and the time will vary from a few months, for relatively straightforward claims, to 18 months plus for more complicated claims, for example, those with multiple parties.
There is no catch. When you are the victim of an accident that wasn’t your fault, insurance companies legally have to pay out. But it’s up to you to take that first step and request what is rightfully yours.
Protecting yourself with insurance is a sensible step for any cyclist. Like any insurance policy the annual cost will be related to the value of the bike insured. If you have an accident and need to make a claim, you will also pay an excess. A cycling insurance policy will also take into account depreciation of the bike and so a cyclist who makes a claim for a bike that is older than two years old, will not receive the value of their bike when they purchased it.
A cyclist does not need insurance to make a claim with CAMS. If you have been involved in an accident that wasn’t your fault, you can make a claim with CAMS and avoid any insurance excess costs. You will also avoid waiting for the insurance company to pay-out before you can get a replacement bike.
There are time limits for making a personal injury claim. As a general rule, court proceedings must be issued within three years of the accident date, for those who have sustained an injury. With time limits in mind, if you have been involved in a cycling accident and it wasn’t your fault, you should contact CAMS straight away to find out if you can make a claim.
If you have been injured as a result of a cycling accident that was not your fault, CAMS can support you in making a claim for personal injury. Our initial consultation is free and as part of the Anexo Group plc we recommend Bond Turner Solicitors to support you with your claim. Bond Turner take on all their claims on a “No Win No Fee” basis. This means that if your claim is not successful, then there will be no charge.
At CAMS we will replace your bike upfront through your local bike shop, meaning you don’t have to wait for the insurance company to pay out. We have over 25 years’ experience in accident management services and work with expert solicitors to secure the compensation you deserve for any loss of earnings or injuries you may have sustained.
