I qualified as a Secondary School Physical Education Teacher in 2004 with a BSc Honours in Sports Studies and Business management and have pursued that career as Head of PE through to 2020. I am also a British Triathlon Level 2 Qualified Coach and Head coach at Prime Triathlon Coaching. A career change and the chance to work with CAMS was a great opportunity.
I have competed in triathlon since 2004 and internationally since 2007 representing Great Britain Age Group team for Duathlon and Triathlon from Sprint – Middle Distance events at European and World Age Group level. Over a 15-year triathlon career, I achieved various national medals and had a highest Ranking of 4th at the European Age group Triathlon Championships in 2014.
Within this career I was privileged to gain sponsorship from Torq Performance Triathlon Team 2011-2012. I then gained sponsorship with Champion System UK through to 2016 and raced on the road and time trialling. I then moved on as a coached rider under the guidance of Matt Bottrill.
It has been a fantastic experience and has allowed me to see the world, do something I love to do and meet so many amazing people involved in the sport.
My favourite cycling journey comes from 2015 and a training camp in Girona. The contrast of the mountains, coastal scenery, and long climbs is perfect for training or a more leisurely cycling holiday experience. The weather, cafes and cycling rich culture all add to a first class place to ride a bike.
