Supporting you and your loyal customers
Whether your customer is insured or not, we can arrange a quick bike replacement service to get them back on the road. With CAMS you do not have to wait for an insurance company to pay out – we will replace the bike upfront.
How it works:
A customer has had a bike accident and needs their bicycle repaired
They tell you that the accident was not their fault
Ask the customer to contact us
We will assess the claim to see if we can help your customer
If we can proceed with a claim we will update your customer and you
We will then contact you to authorise the bike repair or the replacement bike
We will pay you (the bike shop) for the new bike or the repair and a new helmet upfront
The customer can then collect their new or repaired bike and new helmet
How to request CCTV footage
If you have been involved in a cycling accident, the incident may have been captured by CCTV. Under data protection law, you have the right to request any CCTV footage of yourself.
To request CCTV footage you need to contact the owner of the CCTV system. All CCTV systems should have a notice attached to the camera with the details of who the owner is. If the CCTV system is attached to a shop or garage, then you will be able to request the footage from them.
What will help you with your request will be the date and time of your accident. If you know this you can share this with the CCTV owner as part of your request. The CCTV must provide the footage free of charge and within one calendar month.
For more details of your rights and further advice on CCTV footage, please visit Gov.uk.
Why should your customer make an injury claim?
When a cyclist has an accident that wasn’t their fault it can result in a serious injury. Thankfully in many cases the cyclist can make a full recovery. But if a cyclist is dependent upon a bike to commute to a place of work or cycling is an essential part of their job, being injured and unable to work can have serious financial consequences. In such circumstances the cyclist has every right to make an injury claim for loss of earnings and to cover the cost for any medical bills.
Any cyclist who has been injured following an accident that wasn’t their fault, has the right to make a claim. Motor insurance policies are designed to protect motorists and riders from the expenses of having an accident. A cyclist involved in accident may be entitled compensation for personal injury and in addition for property damage, loss of earnings and any additional travel costs.
